Chichicastenango vintage tzute. H: 30.25”, W: 35”. Code: C3498. This tzute was hand woven on the back strap loom in two warp striped pieces joined by a decorative seam in silk. Some of these stripes are “ixcaco”, hand spun naturally brown cotton. The surface decoration is in silk and wool. Typical uses for this are to shade a woman´s head from the sun or to cover food baskets in the market. Circa 1935. This fine tzute is part of the collection of the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales Nim Po’t in Antigua Guatemala. $650. (15-09)
