Chichicastenango ceremonial corte. Weft 78 x warp 280 cm opened. This circa-1970 ceremonial corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two equal cotton base panels joined by thick, hand embroidered decorative seams entirely in silk. The use of silk indicates that it was used ceremonially. The base has simple weft stripes and is dyed with indigo. This fine corte is in very good condition. It was acquired from Bonifacia Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at the Artesanos market in Antigua Guatemala. (11-171) $ 210.
