Chajul daily huipil. W87 x L108 cm opened. This daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton panels. It is unique in that it is like new condition, but done in a very well executed a 1970’s style – except that the base is white instead of the red typical of the period. It might be a retro piece, relatively contemporary but done in the style of the past. However, it is a clean and classic example of an increasingly rare huipil. It features typical stylized bird motifs on each panel in supplementary brocade. Collected from Jose Maria Pocop Barreno (El Guipil Collection) of Panajachel. (8-43) $ 140. Sold.
