Chajul corte. (L113 x 348 cm opened) This traditional Chajul corte was manually woven in cotton on a foot treadle loom, very likely by men, in one wide panel with the addition of a narrow matching band. The traditional style features a bright red base with a grid of narrow blue and white stripes, some of which have subtle ikat patterns. This piece is most typical. As the use of the Nebaj style skirt grows more common in Chajul, the traditional corte has become more rare. This fine corte is in very good condition. Collected from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus. (5-599) $ 85. SOLD
