Chajul rebozo. (shawl)
This beautiful rebozo was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-matched dark blue cotton base panels
with narrow white and orange warp stripes. The warp ends are finished with hand knotted fringes on both ends. The base is
dyed with indigo. It is decorated with supplementary weft brocade bird and plant motifs in silk. It is an outstanding
example of an increasingly rare piece. Likely ceremonial use. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from a private
collection in Guatemala. W 101 x L 207 cm plus fringes. (18-42) $300. OBO
