Chajul ceremonial faja (sash belt).

From the Dr. Richard P. Mandell collection.

This circa 1960 faja was hand woven on a back strap loom in one red cotton panel, which is decorated on both ends with supplementary brocade, much of it in silk. It has complete sets of elaborately hand knotted fringes with small pom-poms on each end. Exceptionally long and wide. This is the finest example of a Chajul faja that we’ve seen. It is in excellent condition. W 26 x L 315 cm plus fringes. (16-247) $ 240. OBO
