Chajul daily huipil. This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two green cotton/rayon blend panels. This material, known as “aleman” is preferred for its drape and softness. Surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring bird motifs surrounded by abstractions in mixed colors. It is in excellent condition. Acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus in the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua Guatemala. W 80 x L 53 cm. (11-04) $ 85.
