Chajul rebozo. W87 x L206 cm plus fringes. This beautiful circa-1980 Chajul rebozo was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-matched dark blue cotton base panels with narrow white warp stripes. The warp ends are finished with hand knotted fringes on both ends. The blue base color was achieved with indigo natural dye. It is decorated with supplementary weft brocade bands of bird and plant motifs, partially done in silk. It is an outstanding example of an increasingly rare piece. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. (10-361) $ 275. OBO
