Almolonga daily huipil. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two red cotton base panels joined by an embroidered decorative seam. “The Almolonga huipil is intricate and solidly brocaded above the waist.” (Altman and West, “Threads of Identity”, p. 121) This huipil is decorated with supplementary brocade entirely in traditional geometric patterns. The base material below the brocade is quite long. This very typical Almolonga huipil is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ema and Carmen Tepue of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) at the La Fuente market in Antigua Guatemala. W 78 x L 82 cm. (7-01) $90.
