Almolonga huipil. This circa-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two very well matched red cotton base panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. “The Almolonga huipil is intricate and solidly brocaded above the waist.” (Altman and West, “Threads of Identity”, p. 121) This huipil is decorated with supplementary brocade entirely in traditional geometric patterns. This fine huipil is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Juanita Conos of Chichicastenango at the La Fuente market in Antigua. W85 x L93 cm. (14-02) $90. OBO
