Almolonga tzute (utility cloth).

Almolonga tzutes are usually small and are like samplers for the geometric brocade that decorates Almolonga huipils. This one, however, is relatively quite large. This post-1980 example was hand woven on back strap loom in one wide cotton panel. It features supplementary weft brocade forming zigzag patterns in four colors. This tzute is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at her tienda in the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua Guatemala. W 83 x L 100 cm plus fringe. (12-332) $ 65. OBO
